A good cause
Research For Life
(The Wellington Medical Research Foundation Incorporated)
Research for Life was formed in 1960 and supports a wide spectrum of quality medical and biomedical research in the Wellington region.
The focus of Research For Life support is on funding researchers in the early stages of their careers who, through their work, also advance the quality of healthcare in the Wellington region and beyond. That’s making an important investment in exceptional talent for the future – which is good for education, the well-being of people and our innovation economy.

Welcome to the Chinese Garden in Wellington
To be located on the waterfront in Frank Kitts Park, the Chinese Garden is where many of the early community first set foot in New Zealand; the site connects this past with the arrival at the summit seeing the harbour thus connecting to the world beyond and to the future.
In the space of just 3000m2 the design of this garden uniquely draws upon the principles of traditional Chinese garden design to present the story of a migrant community – their arrival, settlement and integration into the making of a multicultural nation, and what this means to New Zealand in the 21st century. Locally designed, the Garden has also benefited from input from landscape experts from Xiamen and Beijing.
The Garden Society comprises most of the major Chinese groups in Wellington and the project is supported by our sister-cities, Xiamen and Beijing, our friendly city Tianjin and partner province Zhejiang. We are pleased to acknowledge the strong support of the Wellington Tenths Trust, the Palmerston North Maori Reserves Trust and the Asian Events Trust.
